Why?

photo of melissaI started the Catastrophe Club as a peer support group after experiencing my own struggle with anxiety and depression.

I was lucky – I had an excellent GP who referred me to the local Mental Health team, and so my journey to wellness has included a host of therapies and tools to which many people simply don’t have access. At one vital point, that included group sessions which taught me the immense value of peer support.

Anxiety issues are becoming increasingly common, as modern life leaves us all dealing with more and more stress. When you add something like trauma, stress, grief or depression in the mix, it becomes even harder to cope.

The Catastrophe Club aims to bring people together to support each other through the good times and the bad. We’re not mental health professionals – we’re just regular folks trying to improve our lives, and those of the people we care about.
